Important: By booking a ride with Eastern Cabs — online, by phone, or via any other means — you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.

1. Definitions

  • "Eastern Cabs" means Eastern Cabs Melbourne Pty Ltd, its drivers, agents, and employees.
  • "Passenger" means any person who books or travels in an Eastern Cabs vehicle.
  • "Booking" means any reservation for a ride made via our website, phone, or app.
  • "Fare" means the total charge for a journey including any applicable tolls, levies, and surcharges.
  • "Service" refers to all taxi, hire-car, and related transport services provided by Eastern Cabs.

2. Bookings & Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation via SMS, email, or verbal confirmation from our dispatch team. Until confirmation is received, the booking is not guaranteed.

Advance bookings: We recommend booking at least 2 hours in advance for scheduled rides and 24 hours in advance for airport pick-ups and special events.
Airport pick-ups: Flight tracking is included. Your driver monitors your flight and adjusts arrival time accordingly. Please provide your flight number at the time of booking.
Changes: Booking modifications (time, address, vehicle) must be made at least 60 minutes before the scheduled pick-up by calling 0420 332 227. Last-minute changes are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.
Group bookings: For groups of 5 or more passengers, please contact us directly to ensure the appropriate vehicle is arranged.

Eastern Cabs reserves the right to decline or cancel a booking at its discretion, particularly where safety concerns or driver availability arise.

3. Fares & Payment

Fares are calculated based on metered distance and time in accordance with Victorian taxi fare regulations, or on agreed fixed-price quotes provided at the time of booking.

  • Metered fares — start from flag-fall, plus per-kilometre and per-minute waiting rates as set by the Victorian Government
  • Fixed-price airport fares — Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) from $65; Avalon Airport from $110 (subject to change — confirm at booking)
  • Tolls — CityLink and EastLink toll charges are added to the fare at cost
  • Late-night / public holiday surcharge — a surcharge applies between 10:00 pm – 6:00 am and on Victorian public holidays
  • Waiting time — charged per minute after the complimentary wait period (5 minutes standard; 30 minutes for airport arrivals from the time your flight lands)
  • Cleaning fee — a fee of up to $250 may be charged if a passenger soils or damages the vehicle

Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, EFTPOS, Apple Pay, and Cash. Card payments may attract a small surcharge.

Fares are presented in Australian Dollars (AUD) inclusive of GST.

4. Cancellations & No-Shows

Free cancellation: Cancel at least 2 hours before your scheduled pick-up time with no charge.
Late cancellation (under 2 hours): A cancellation fee equal to 50% of the estimated or agreed fare may apply.
No-show: If the driver arrives at the pick-up location and the passenger cannot be reached within 5 minutes (10 minutes for airports), the booking will be marked as a no-show and the full estimated fare may be charged.

To cancel a booking, call us on 0420 332 227 or email bookings@easterncabs.com.au. Cancellations via the contact form are not guaranteed to be processed in time — please call for urgent cancellations.

Eastern Cabs reserves the right to cancel a booking due to circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road closures, vehicle breakdown). In such cases, no cancellation fee will apply and we will make reasonable efforts to arrange alternative transport or a full refund.

5. Passenger Conduct

All passengers are expected to behave in a safe, respectful, and lawful manner. Eastern Cabs drivers may refuse to carry or may terminate a trip — without refund — if a passenger:

  • Is abusive, threatening, or violent towards the driver or other passengers
  • Is intoxicated to a level that poses a safety risk
  • Refuses to wear a seatbelt as required by Victorian law
  • Behaves in a way that threatens the safety of the vehicle or other road users
  • Smokes or vapes inside the vehicle
  • Attempts to bring prohibited items (illegal substances, weapons) into the vehicle

Animals: Guide dogs and assistance animals are always welcome. Pet travel (cats, dogs, etc.) must be arranged in advance and is subject to driver discretion. Pets must be in an appropriate carrier.

Child seats: Eastern Cabs can provide child seats with advance notice. Alternatively, you may bring your own. Under Victorian law, children under 7 must be in an approved restraint. You are responsible for correctly fitting any seat you provide.

6. Wait Times & Delays

Eastern Cabs strives to be on time for every booking. However, arrival times may be affected by traffic, road works, weather conditions, or other events outside our control.

  • Standard bookings — complimentary waiting time of 5 minutes from the agreed pick-up time. Waiting time is charged per minute thereafter.
  • Airport arrivals — complimentary waiting time of 30 minutes from the actual wheels-down time of your flight. We track flights automatically.
  • Scheduled bookings — if your driver has not arrived within 15 minutes of the booked time, please call 0420 332 227 immediately.

Eastern Cabs accepts no liability for missed flights, missed connections, or consequential losses arising from delays caused by traffic, road conditions, or other external factors.

7. Lost Property

If you leave property in one of our vehicles, contact us as soon as possible on 0420 332 227 or bookings@easterncabs.com.au with a description of the item and your booking reference.

We will make reasonable efforts to locate and return lost items. A return delivery fee may apply. Eastern Cabs does not accept liability for items left in vehicles. Unclaimed items will be held for 30 days and then disposed of in accordance with applicable laws.

8. Liability & Disclaimer

Eastern Cabs carries public liability insurance and vehicle insurance as required by Victorian law and VicRoads accreditation requirements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Eastern Cabs is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss including missed flights, missed connections, loss of business, or financial loss arising from a delayed or cancelled trip
  • Our maximum liability for any claim arising from a single booking is limited to the fare paid for that booking
  • Eastern Cabs is not responsible for the acts or omissions of third parties (other drivers, airports, airlines)

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by contract, including any statutory guarantees relating to the supply of services.

9. Accessibility & Special Needs

Eastern Cabs provides wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) with ramps and trained drivers. To ensure an accessible vehicle is available, please request one at the time of booking.

We welcome passengers with all mobility needs. Drivers are trained to assist passengers in and out of the vehicle and to secure wheelchairs and mobility aids safely. We do not charge an additional fee for accessibility requirements.

If you have specific medical or care needs, please inform us at the time of booking so we can ensure the appropriate vehicle and driver are arranged.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 7 business days. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) or the Consumer Affairs Victoria.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Eastern Cabs may update these Terms and Conditions at any time by publishing a revised version on this page. The "Last updated" date will be changed accordingly. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
